[RITSlist] Coach #319 "Narcissus"

Last summer my family visited the Kate Shelley museum in Moingona,
Iowa. They have Rock Island coach #319 there as well, and we were
allowed to go inside and look around upon request. The gentleman who
gave us the tour mentioned that the Boone County Historical Society
really doesn't have the funds to maintain it, let alone restore it. At
the time didn't inquire more about the coach's future. They used to
use the coach to show a video about Kate Shelley, but do not anymore
because they cannot air condition it, and it is rather "oven like" in
the summer. The coach has also been apparently used for target
practice by pellet gun owner. Some of the windows were broken with no
apparent attempts at repair.
To get to the point, does anyone else have better knowledge of the
condition of #319 since summer of 2006? And does anyone know if the
Boone County Historical Society would want to give #319 a better home
in the interest of saving the coach instead of slow death due to lack
of funds? IF the BCHS would want someone else to assume the proper
care and feeding of #319, I think it would be great if we (RITS) could
acquire the the coach. What do the rest of you think?
If anyone would like to photos I took of the coach last summer, email
me off the list and I will share them with you. One of my photos was
on the RITS website, but I can't open it up for some reason. Can
anyone else open it?
