In March of 1964, my father chased the eastbound Golden State from about 
Dalhart, Texas, to Liberal, Kansas.  I was an 11 year child glued to the 
car window in fascination.  My memory is that the lead locomotive was an 
Alco FA unit.  Did any of these units have steam generators?  Were any 
of them commonly assigned to passenger service? Which units?  Which 
trains?  Thank you for your help?
