[RITSlist] Englewood Union Station

Looking for pictures (not for publication) of the Englewood Union
Station for a modeling project. Most pictures have a train obscuring
the view of the building. I am looking for photos of the station,
especially the north side (fronting 63rd Street). Anyone know the
exact date the station was closed? I assume it was prior to 1979
because the photo in Rail City Chicago shows the building to be in
pretty sad shape then. I took pictures of the site in 1988 and all that
was left was part of the platform shelter on the Rock Island side.

All of the Morning Sun and Four Ways West books show a train in the photo and it is difficult to
see all of the station itself.?? Strombeck's photos of the NYC in his Illinois Trackside book has
a glimpse of the north side, the second story, on page 115.?? No luck, however, with the street
level view.?? The Chicago Surface Lines web page has a good shot taken from the station
looking down on 63rd Street but the north side is at too sharp of an angle to get any details.
