[RITSlist] Transition to diesel.

Greetings All,

What strategy did the CRIP adopt to manage the transition from steam to diesel?
For example were branch lines dieselised first, then the remainder of far flung divisions, then the main lines.

I realise that this cannot be answered in just one line.
Is there a book or are there books that deal with this matter?
