[RITSlist] THE ROCK lives

I live in Tucson and travel to Casa Grande and Yuma along the Sunset Route
so I see a lot of UP trains with Rock boxes and hoppers. It is kind of nice
to see little pieces of the Rock Island. I just wish that it had been the
Rock and the SP that swallowed the UP.

At the RR yard where I work, I see quite a few former blue boxcars and
hopper cars.
I take my camera to work when I am working days, just to record what's going

by.

The CEFX folks were using quite a few former blue gondolas in aggregate
service
until this year. I've not seen any of them in a while. Most of the gondolas
with their
reporting marks are now painted black.

Back in 1997-1999, there were quite a few boxcars on the former KCM&O line
between San Angelo and Presido Texas. The line was run as the "South Orient"
line, and these cars could be seen in small towns along the line, such as
Rankin,
Barnhart, and Big Lake. What made these cars stand out was that they had not
completely painted over, and were still pretty good looking.
