[RITSlist] RI cabooses, TX

Dear Ritslist members,

Sorry, I don't have the car number. I was railfanning with friends
and they were the ones to tell me about the cars heritage.

The unit had broken windows in February of 1998. On my second
visit in December of 2002, the window openings had been covered
with expanded metal. Not much had changed when I saw it in 2005.

Coupland is a very small agricultural community between Taylor and
Elgin, TX. If you blink while driving by, you will miss it. I have
written to the school district twice regarding the RITS grant program,
and have not received a response.

The Sandia unit has been restored, and is painted in a black,
yellow, and red scheme.  The unit is on display, with other
RR memorabilia, behind a wrought-iron fence. I believe that
it is part of a small museum.
