[RITSlist] Ever wonder how much a railrad pass is worth?

While most Rock Island passes go for less than $15.00; some very 
reasonable less than $5.00, once in a while an exceptional historic one 
comes on the market.  Monday, an 1856 pass from the Chicago & Rock 
Island RR which reached Rock Island, IL earlier in 1856 went for 
$153.00.  While some railroad passes have sold for up to $500, I didn't 
know how much historic RI passes might bring.  The pass was signed by 
President Henry Farnam.  The seller was misinformed about the spelling 
of his name and as to the date of the pass as it was advertised as an 
1857 pass because they saw the expiration date of Jan. 1, 1857.
