There was a feature article on this tragic collision in the Summer 2006 issue of REMEMBER THE ROCK  magazine.  Author Bruce Liebe brought together the ICC Accident Report, newspaper stories, and eyewitness accounts to tell the whole story.
Although the blame for the wreck was laid on the Burlington, the Rock Island had to pay 
for all of the Burlington's losses, plus - of course - all their own, because the Rock Island 
train was being handled under a detour agreement.  Total cost to the Rock Island was about one million dollars.   PAW
