[RITSlist] A Rocket Survey

Here is my two cents,
I am interested in the predecessor's, because if it wasn't for them there would not have been a Rock in the first place. I believe there is a need for both publications. The Digest could cover from 1930 back and the Rocket cover 1930 forward including the Iowa Northern and other roads and organizations that took over the old lines of the Rock.We are to preserve info on the Rock Island and even what's going on in the future for it. In 20+ years new fans and members might not know where this was. Why not even have color pictures of conventions in the Rocket as well as stories of the tours. Look at other magazines, they have sections on modeling and past and present operation. Have sections for history-modeling-today's operation-RITS activities with conventions and tours, Museums, company store etc. Let RTR do there thing and the RITS do ours.

That's just my thoughts.

Subject: [RITSlist] A Rocket Survey

Greetings,

Since I've announced my new position as editor of the Rocket I've
been overwhelmed by e-mails wishing me the best of luck. I appreciate
your support and I think we're going to have an even better magazine
for RITS.

As I mentioned in my previous post this magazine belongs to you and
not me. To that end I'd like to hear what you think. What would you
like to see in the Rocket. What's your favorite era? What's your
favorite locomotive? What kind of stories do you like to read? In
short what do you think the Rocket should be all about?

Though I appreciate all the direct e-mails I've received, I'd like to
see your response posted to the RITS List. That way everybody can
weigh in on the pros and cons to each idea.

I'm all ears.

Sincerely,

Andrew McBride
Editor
The Rocket
