[RITSlist] Ferromex, Ferrosur, and lots of cars in Bankruptcy Blue

We see Ferromex engines in the San Antonio TX yards all the time. They are the successors to Nacionales de Mexico (Mexican National Rwy.), and
I believe that they are owned by a consortium associated with Carlos Slim.

Ferrosur (Rail South) is also owned by this consortium, and the Mexican government has been trying to break up their attempt to operate both railroads
as one. The RR says that they need to operate as one to fight off KCS de Mexico, if reports in the popular press can be believed.

I work nights in the Kirby Texas yard, just outside of San Antonio. I see lots of boxcars and 3 bay hoppers that used to belong to our favorite RR. All
are painted in Bankruptcy Blue, and most are lettered for CNW.

A large amount of regular gondolas are used by the CEFX leasing pool. Most still have the BB paint scheme and the "R" is visible on almost all of them.

In late 2002, there were quite a few BB painted boxcars in the small towns west of San Angelo, along the South Orient RR (former KCM&O line).
I'd see an odd boxcar here and there, but this was groups of 20 and thirty in Big Lake, Barnhart, Rankin and McCamey.  I don't travel that way
anymore, so I don't know if they were there for a harvest or some other commodity harvested in the fall.
