As someone who is not a member of RITS, but who has volunteered to 
conduct the annual RITS auction for several years, I am very 
disappointed by this action.  I have known Howard Hoy for 40 years, and 
became acquainted with Karen through my efforts in conducting the 
auction.   Last October, Karen rode the train the Lexington Group in 
Transportation History ran on the IANR and the IAIS, and she managed to 
sell several memberships in RITS.  She appeared to be a very ambitious 
person.  I find it hard to believe that either of these two people would 
do anything disreputable or that was not in the best interests of the 
group. 

I am inclined to think the RITS politics remind me of what is said about 
college/university politics:   It is so vicious because there is so 
little at stake!!

I am seriously rethinking my commitment to the group if this is how they 
treat two members that are very dear friends.
