David and others-
    My Oct 29, 1961 table shows 39 and 40 running all the way from Chicago 
to LA.  At that time, #3 departing at 6:32 p.m. stopped to pick up 
passengers for ElPaso and beyond. #4 stopped to detrain any passenger from 
ElPaso or west and departed at 5:44 a.m.
    After 39 originated and 40 terminated at Kansas City, #s 3 and 4 stopped 
unconditionally at Centerville.
    April 1966 #3 dp 5:44 p.m. and #4 departed 2:45 p.m.
    Oct 30, 1966 #3 dp 5:49 p.m. & #4 dp 2:47 p.m.
