  Chessie System as CSXT predessor LEASED the tracks for 50 yearsback in 1980. The property owner at that time which we think was the trustee of the RI at that time. Bill is needing to know who own the property  on which CSXT runs it's trains. Did CSXT finally buy this portion of railroad or is it still leased. If it is still leased who owns this piece of railroad.

Hi Steve,

I'm doing some up-to-date research on the Rock Island and thought that
you might be able to give he a hand;

When the CRI&P was liquidated back in 1980 or 1981, the Chesapeake &
Ohio  took out a 50 year lease on the property from Joliet west to Bureau
and south to Henry, leasing it from the CRI&P's holding company, the
Chicago & Pacific Corporation. The successor to the C&O is today's CSX
Transportation. The Chicago & Pacific was acquired by Maytag in 1985 and
Maytag was absorbed by Whirlpool in 2006. What I need to determine is
what corporate entity currently owns the real estate that CSX is
leasing and operating as their New Rock Subdivision. the Chicago & Pacific
assests go to Whirlpool or does some other company hold the title to the
property?
