I too have concluded that the scene does not depict Englewood...Appears to be closer to downtown per cgw407's comment.? Some of those buildings were gone before I came on the Chicago scene, but it just didn't look like Englewood to me either.

Andy:

?

Great issue of "The Rocket".?? Since I no longer live or work in the Chicago area, it was interesting to see the Amtrak detours over line between 16th Street and Joliet.?? The photo of St. Joe was interesting since one doesn't see many photos from there even though quite a few railroads served it.?? I loved the TA article and I have one comment to make regarding a photo caption on page 26 at the top where is says "...as it flies into Englewood".?? I don't think it is Englewood nor is it westbound.?? Two items lead me to believe that the train is headed towards LaSalle Street Station about Pershing Avenue.

The bridges behind the train appear to be two separate bridges which would be the CJ and the CRT stockyards branch.

In addition, the building in the background is the Brunswick-Balke-Collender billiard table plant.?? The plant (one of several Brunswick buildings in Chicago) was at 3900 Federal which places it east of the NYC/CRI&P elevation.?? I don't see too many photos of the property between 18th Street and 61st Street except for the Rocket House and the coach yards.
You wouldn't happen to have any photos of the old Edward Don building by the tracks, would you? That would be great
to see published.

Thanks for a great issue.

So by now I would hope everyone has gotten the newest issue of "The
Rocket". So what do you think? How can we make it better? What did
you like? What didn't you like? Can the Red Sox really win two World
Series in the same decade?

Let me know.
