[RITSlist] PDF program

Microsoft Office 2007 also has a plugin that allows PDF
creation from any of its included programs (Word, Excel,
etc.) The drawback with this, as I expect would be the
case with Open Office Writer, is that once the PDF is
created, it cannot be modified with the program which
created it.
I do quite a bit of PDF editing, so I have the full
version of Acrobat 7, but I frequently will use the PDF
print driver (which is what the plugins really are) to
create a PDF from Word, or even from non-office programs
like a web browser--once the plugin is installed, you see
a "printer" with PDF in the name, and it should be visible
to any program which uses the standard Windoze print
drivers.
Adobe also offers an on-line PDF creation service--you
submit a document to their website, they send back a
finished PDF file--but again, once you have it you can't
edit the PDF. It's also a pay service, and once you've
used up the trial, gets a bit pricey.
