The number looks like 21543.  This was more than likely used as a hauler of corn, etc.  As far as the date of build I don't know.

  The car number appears to be RI 24543, although it is difficult to read through the paint that was once applied over it.  According to the prospectus, it looks as if the boxcar will be sold later as it has stuff in it that the owner must clean out.  Anyone know if this 24543 number is correct and if so, when this car was built for the Rock Island?

      The National Railway Historical Society referred me to you.  Pretty late now but if you know of anyone near Topeka Kansas this Saturday we are auctioning a Rock Island boxcar, no wheels.  Not in the best of shape on this farm.  I have included a website picture.  Thanks
