  Anyone coming in from the east planning to use I-80-94 and the Dan Ryan Expressway. This is a construction nightmare. 2 possible ways maybe use US 30 and get past this area re-enter on I-57 north and go up to I-80 continue west past Joliet to I-55 and go north back into city. It's sort of the long way around but it'll get you there. It's a shame but I-355 will open about 2 months later and would have been I nice short cut from I-80 up to I-55. Hope this helps. One other option can be using I-294 to I-55 If you can tolerate the 5-7 miles of construction from the stateline to I-294.

  All out of towners please be patient. This past year or two in the Chicago area is a nightmare for road construction. The Dan Ryan expressway (I-90,94) is near the end of a 2 year rebuilding. New I-355 which opens in November has cause some headaches where it connects at I-55. On I-88 near I-355 there is some major lane reconfigurations going on. and the same at I-88 near I-294. On I-80 near New Lenox whre I-355 will terminate there might be some delays.
