In your early 1980s time frame UCEX (red) and AMAX Ortner rapid
discharge hoppers were definitely used in unit trains between mines
on the Rio Grande and Union Electric's West Labadie, MO plant. The
trains were loaded by Colowyo Coal at Axial and Energy Fuels at
Energy, both on the Rio Grande's Craig branch. The routing was D&RGW-
Pueblo-MP-W. Labadie. The D&RGW train numbers were 713/714, the MP
symbol was CUO.
