I too was wondering what Intermountain plans on doing with commuter F7 676.
I've been brainstorming/plotting how to build the HEP equipment for a while
and came up with this (with the help of photos and drawings from a couple of
individuals on this list).
Here's some construction shots on how I built the HEP and oil coolers for
676 I recently modeled (the HEP looks to be the same on all of the commuter
F7's and the fan arrangement/grid walkway top looks to be the same on the
former UP E9's). I used a combination of Plano apex roofwalk material and
scrap sprue bent and soldered together and cut down Highliners F2/F3 type
fans cut into a F3 slit opening dynamic section. (the model itself is a
Highliners shell on a Genesis sound chassis).

Will Intermountain do this correctly? I would guess they're probably not
going to tool a whole new piece for the HEP generator.I could be wrong, but
I doubt it.
Of course, after Intermountain's CGW FP7's, I wouldn't even bet money on the
models being painted correctly. Your opinions and mileage may vary.
Enjoy!
Kelley.

All,
The FP7A's were mostly Maroon with Yellow "Wings" in the later 60's-early
70's. #410 had Maroon with nose pinstripe's and "Block" lettering. But
several wore (#406 was one I believe) what was called the "Chicago" Red with
Heralds only on the sides from the early 1960's to their late 60's
repainting (Same lettering style as the all Maroon with Herald's from the
late 1962 through mid 1965 period).
After the 1972 trade in's only #s 403, 406 & 409 were left, and all were
Maroon with Yellow wing's and Block lettering. The #409 got the frt car
style "Block" lettering (with all road name letter's the same size) sometime
after 1972, as I saw this one both ways back in the early 70's.
The Intermountain artwork (and number's shown on their drawing's) with #12
on one booster unit, and I'd guess they will pick #s 10, 12 or 13 for the 2
they do, assuming they do the Red/Yellow/"Speed" Lettering. What should
really be of concern (to modeler's, anyway) is that their A unit artwork
show's #676, a Red/Yellow commuter unit. Will they also do the #677? And if
so, will they take the time to model the HEP radiator's and HEP exhaust's?
I'm not too sure about Intermountain taking the time to do this correctly.
Maybe one of us here should contact the folk's at Intermountain and ask
about this.
Just my thought's.
