While not the "maroon" used on passenger locos in the classic Rocket
Passenger scheme, it is the ³maroon² used on most locomotives until the
advent of the red/yellow.

Denis, I'm glad you distinguish between dark red and maroon. They are not
the same, which I fear many people think the terms are synonymous. They
