To John and the listers'
I spoke this afternoon with Mr. Larry Leicht of Intermountian about their future RI projects for both the FP7A's as well as their F7A and B's in the Red/Yellow. He has given me his permission to describe what the plan with the modeler's here on the list and hopfully get your input.
First the FP7A's. These will be done in the Maroon/Yellow "Wings" with the Block lettering from the late 1960's/early 1970's era. They will be made in 3 road number's, but the numbers haven't all been selected yet. What they would like is 3 unit's either with or without the nose door headlight. They would prefer one or the other, althoughas I had told them that might not be possible to do 3 in the same nose door version. The Sound unit's will have the "Mars" light in the upper headlight and a standard headlight in the lower nose light, if they do the 2 headlight version. The non sound unit's won't have the Mars feature.
They would like any recomendations on the Maroon color (and there isn't any need to rehash the "dark red" vrs the "maroon" debates on the color description). Any commercial maroon paint supplied in a paint chip that would look good for a model or that could be a model color recommended as a source would help them out. So color photo's of unit's in this paint/lettering are also welcome as well.
They will not be producing a roof top "oil cooler" assembly for any of their cab unit's, although I recomended they consider trying it. But I don't personally think it'll happen. These will likely include a new etched metal windshield wiper assy as well, and they may make this availible by itself for folks to use, but that will be determined later.
As far as the F7 A & B's in the "Material Service" Red/Yellow with large "Speed" lettering that were already announced, there will be 4 "A" unit numbers (#112, 122, 676 & 677) and 3 "B" number's (10, 12 and 13). These will not have the oil cooler's or the HEP power items on the roof's, so you will have to make your choice on these unit's. I would like them to consider producing these item's, but we will see.
I did make a suggestion to Mr Leicht that since I am writing the "Rocket Review" part of the "Rocket" magazine, that I would like to do some reviews of these when thay are made availible as model's.
So John and all, let me open this up for your discussion and see where this goes.

If you or the RI Technical Society should happen to have a color chip or color reference for both the red and yellow that we should use, by all means pass it along. If there is a brand of commercial paint that matches accurately, that works for us as well as we can create our own color chip that our factory can match. Any and all color photos would also be helpful if you have some.
