[RITSlist] Station Location Question

Metra is constructing a new intermediate commuter station on its Rock Island District at 35th Street, in Chicago, four miles south of the LaSalle Street terminal.  Did the Rock Island (or New York Central which shared the right-of-way) ever have a passenger station between downtown Chicago and Englewood  station, which was seven miles from LaSalle Street terminal?
