Lee and list,

I'm not in research mode right now so I didn't rank this personally important (interesting though), but it may be useful to you and others here.

There is a two part article in the March and April issue of Railroad Model Craftsman by David Lambert entitled "Using the Nation Archives as a modeling resource".

It explains how the government started a "huge" project at the turn of the last century (1914 actually) to document the assets of all of the railroads in the country. These documents were then updated as the railroads' assets changed. There are lists of assets, maps, and some pictures.

He goes on to explain how to access this wealth of information. Unfortunately, you have to be there.

Even if you are not in research mode, the lengths the government will go to learn what they already know is amazing.

Hi I was wondering if anyone in the Cedar Rapids area may have or may have taken pictures of the engine or yard facilities like different buildings. I have come across some pictures that are marked Cedar Rapids from 1936 an 1937 and have some buildings in them and would like to know about them. I came across about 35 photos a lot of them steam and from the midwest.   Lee
