Hello, Sharon, Jerry, and All - A marvelous resource is www.steamlocomotive.com A search for CRI&P will show six Rock Island steam locomotives, but two are under water! The Pacifics are at Duncan, OK (905 - see the write-up in the latest REMEMBER THE ROCK), Peoria, IL (886/887 at Wheels-of-Time), and the Illinois Railway Museum, Union, IL (938). Check out the roster of equipment on the IRM website, www.irm.org . The 0-4-0 is supposed to move from Jamestown, CA to the Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum in Santa Maria, CA. Check out www.smvrhm.org The Warrren & Ouchita Valley 4-6-0 #1 (Which the Rock Island ran as"Old No. 9") is on display in Black River Falls, WI There are steam locomotives - not Rock Island - on the market. Try www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com for a nifty 2-8-0 in like-new condition for 'ONLY' $415,000. (And refitting to meet new FRA regs should be do-able for another $250,000.) I'm afraid we're a day late and a dollar short. PAW

There is a 4-6-2 Pacific rusting away in the weeds at the Illinois Railway Museum at Union, Illinois. Don't know if it is available; but, they sure aren't doing anything to restore it.Jerry BerwaldAt 12:01 AM 2/17/2008, Sharon Deckard wrote:
