Jim, you mention Mr. Hublers name so will add my little story.  I was 
working the Inver Grove Manly swing job.  I normally road  #17 down, but 
parking was easier at the yard office and the operator on duty would  hold 
the signal red on #19 just coming off the bridge.  I would board the head 
end and ride to Manly.   We had a CBQ engine one day and no place for a 
extra person to sit down.   We headed in at Northfield to let a Northbound 
Milw Freight by.   Engr told me to walk back and get on the coach so I could 
sit down.   Mr. Hubler took one look at my "wire" pass and told me it was no 
good on this train.   I told him they took them before and he said no 
matter, it wasn't good on his train.    I crossed the track and was looking 
around for a bus station while the frt passed.   Lucky it was a short one. 
I was about 50 yards from the train when Condr Hubler shouted at me and told 
me to get my butt on the train.    Seems he was only pulling my leg, but 
being a green horn, I took him seriously
