I went and checked my Bev-Bel example.  The printing is in  black.  "Express" 
is not on the car.  FYI, the car is a riveted metal  40' boxcar.
 
Until this most recent discussion, I hadn't realized the car was  
specifically intended for Express service but thought because of its silver  color it 
would fit in with a passenge consist.
