[RITSlist] Foundation of the first roundhouse in Rock Island Ill.???

I've spied this strange structure/foundation just north of the freight yard in Rock Island:

In a panoramic drawing dating back 1889 it shows a real complete roundhouse at the CRI&P yard very close to the water:

The question is...is the former views truly the foundation of the original roundhouse?
I'm wondering if the now unused industrial spur to the north was the old main line of the CB&Q (R,RI&STL)and sometime the mainline was moved to the south of the old roundhouse building once the site was abandoned.

Anyone know if any of my assumptions are true?
