[RITSlist] Rock Island Vanderbilt Tender Question

I've seen pictures of the typical round water tank Vandy tenders on RI steamers and also the triangular tank 'loaf of bread' type which were later converted into the snowplows. The question is, were the triangular tanks later added as a modification to the round tank style or were both issued as new erections with their assigned locos coming from the builder, such as Alco?
