In addition, prewar passenger timetables list "Airport Station" just prior
to the Missouri River Crossing. The station note for westbound passenger
trains was "Stops to let off Airline passengers when previous arrangements
have been made." The eastbound station note was "Stops to receive
passengers from Braniff Airline for St. Paul, Minneapolis or beyond, and for
Davenport, Rock Island, Moline and Chicago." This of course was what is now
Downtown Airport in Kansas City, and thus indicates that at least some
passenger trains ran over the Wabash via Ustick into Union Station. This
also meant that for those trains Union Station was a 'stub terminal' rather
than a through, as the only access to Union Station from Airport Station is
via the Hannibal Bridge and the trackage through the bottoms on the west
side of downtown KC, into the west end of the terminal. Westbound airport
stops were listed for the Golden State Limited, the Californian, and Short
Line Express; while eastbound stop was only listed for the Mid-Continent
Limited.

What was the exact route from north of Liberty down to (a) Union Station,
and (b) Armourdale, prior to the opening of the Truman Bridge in 1948.
Did RI trains ever operate over Chouteau Bridge--prior to 1931, or course.
Was CB&Q involved in any of regular routing, other than trains getting by
Ustick Tower.
Sorry, I did not come here until 1965 and permanently so in 1969. :(
